Scott is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice in Minnesota. His practice encompasses not only chemical technologies and material sciences but also medical devices. Specific technologies in the medical device field include implantable medical devices and components of such devices, compositions, and composites.
Scott handles patent drafting and prosecution to help clients secure patent protection in the U.S. and internationally. He also has extensive experience helping clients to plan, draft, and negotiate intellectual property agreements including patent, trade secret, and know how licenses, and R&D agreements, and acquisitions. Scott also helps clients to evaluate invalidity and noninfringement of third-party patent rights, including undertaking freedom to operate (FTO) analyses to facilitate new product introductions or to assess threats of infringement.
Prior to joining Kagan Binder, Scott’s experience included in-house practice at major corporations that specialized in chemical manufacturing, industrial and consumer materials and medical devices.
